After a failed abortion attempt by his mother, Ty Smith was born December
10, 1979 in Wichita, Kansas. As an infant he encountered a bad case
of the whooping cough, and the doctors told his mother that he would need a voice box!!! Today Ty is a living, speaking testimony
who has overcome many stereotypes amongst young African American males, from single parent homes. Currently he
is just a few hours away from receiving his Master's Degree in Adult Education from The University of Central Oklahoma. He
wrote a self-published book called "Kingdom Poetry" in 2003. In 2005 He opened up for Shirley Caesar in
Concert and in 2006 He opened up for Martin Luther King III at The University of Central Oklahoma as a spoken word artist.
In Feb 3, 2007 he received a Citation of Recognition for his book "Kingdom Poetry"
from House Representative Mike Shelton at the Oklahoma State Capitol. He has been featured and local newspaper articles
in the Oklahoma City and Edmond Area. Ty speaks at libraries, churches, universities, and outdoor community events. His radio
ministry “Ty Speaks Life” airs on 1220AM radio www.ktlv.com every 2nd and 4th Sunday from 5:30-6:00pm Central Day Time. Ty donates his books to schools, libraries,
youth centers, and sends individual poems to prisons. He also is a mentor for the Brotherhood Boys Club in Oklahoma City. Ty's
goal is to spread the gospel and to promote education amongst minorities all across the globe with the gifts and talents God
has graced him with!!!
